Key Findings
- Inconsistency for step therapy: There was no consistent trend across drug classes for step therapy in terms of differences between commercial and Medicare plans.

The ARBs demonstrated significantly higher rates of step therapy, with over 35% of Medicare lives having a step therapy in place, as compared to only 15% for commercial lives. In contrast, for Statins, step therapy was much more prevalent for commercial plans (20% of lives) as compared to Medicare (only 5% of lives).
